Welcome!

I'm excited by the renewed public interest in something I've cared about for a long time - agriculture! ...I'm less excited by the fluffy way that it's often misunderstood by journalists and food activists. I started this blog to help tell the day-in-the-life stories of this industry, its past and its possible futures.

I'll be writing about ecology, gardening and all the different ways food gets from the dirt to your plate.

This blog is an unpaid hobby and my attempt to do my part to communicate science to the public. I paint in broad strokes due to the minimal time I can afford to devote to this project. I'm always happy to receive challenges to my facts and interpretations and will try to respond in a timely manner - just make a comment on any post.
